How to make Houmous

  • 1 tin of chick peas
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp tahini
  • 1 – 2 lemons
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

Drain the chickpeas and keep some of their liquid behind ( you will need about 2 tablespoons).

Put the chickpeas in a blender, add 2 cloves of garlic (minced), 1 tsp of tahini, juice of half a lemon, 2 tablespoons of the reserved liquid, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, salt and pepper and blend until smooth or until you reach the consistency you like.

If the mixture feels and looks too stiff – add another tablespoon of the liquid you kept behind.

Add salt and pepper to taste and if you wish, add more lemon/olive oil.

Refrigerate and enjoy!

*It will keep well in fridge for up to a week.
